Green Walls
Updated: Sep 6, 2020
Green walls - commonly referred to as vertical gardens or living walls - are vertically designed structures covered in a variety of vegetation. Green walls transform a space through the combination of their liveliness, biodiversity and enhancement of quality of life. As a design for both indoor and outdoor spaces, green walls can be incorporated into many different environments. Along with their aesthetic components, green walls also serve for multi-purposes.

Exterior Green Walls:
Green walls have the potential to aid in purification of gray water or excess water from interior use such as sinks, washing machines and showers.
This additional layer of insulation on the outside of buildings plays a key role in reducing ambient temperature. Vertical walls help prevent warm air from exiting a building in addition to stopping solar radiation from entering a building.
Overall, exterior green walls act as significant energy-savers.
Interior Green Walls:
Living walls inside a building are beneficial for air quality improvement by both decreasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and increasing oxygen levels.
Interior green walls also enhance air quality through purification and filtration of the surrounding air as they absorb and clean air pollutants.
Green walls act as a stress reducer as their calming features help to soothe the environment.
